How to change the password from the PC

In the “My account” section, it is where all Google services are found, including the date of last access, in addition to the data used by each connected application or service. To modify the password, follow these steps:

  1. Enter in to access the configuration options of your account.
  2. Log in: Entering the username or email and your current password.
  3. Go to the personal information section: located in the menu on the left, there you will find the option «Personal information«. Click to access.

  4. Modify the password: you will be able to see your personal information, such as name and surname, date of birth and the encrypted password. You will also be able to see the last modification date of your key.

  5. Verify your identity: press the “Password” option, it will take you to a new page to enter your current password. Google wants to really confirm that you are the owner of the account and in case of detecting problems, it will alert via email a “security problem” in your account.
  6. Enter a new password: minimum must have 8 characters and you can use numbers, uppercase/lowercase letters and special symbols. Try to choose a difficult password to improve your security, and remember that if you have trouble remembering it, you can use password managers like 1Password.

  7. Press the “Change password” button.
  8. Clever! You already have your most secure Google account.

Once you have made the change, you will receive an email confirming that the password has been changed, especially useful if it was not you who did it, to be able to carry out the relevant procedures for account recovery. You may need to sign back in to YouTube, Gmail, or Google Drive, among other services, to continue using them normally.

How to change the password on Android or iOS

To modify the password on your mobile terminal (Android or iOS), you must have the official Gmail application installed. Here are the steps to change the password from the application:

  1. Sign in to Gmail: open the application with your usual email and password, in case you don’t have the logged in.
  2. Click on your profile: in the upper right corner, click on the image to open the window.
  3. choose your account: press on the button that says “Manage your Google account”.

  4. Information: several tabs will appear, press on «Personal information».
  5. modify password: information about your account will appear, press «Password». Enter the current password to validate your identity.

  6. Complete the form: type the new password and confirm it in the field below.

  7. Congratulations! Your password has already been successfully changed.

Once you’re done, you’ll need to sign back in on all devices associated with that Google account.
